Electrical System Design is an important part of Electrical Engineering. Electrical engineers begin the method by designing electrical systems by estimating the overall building electric power load.

There are two most important aspects in electrical system design, proper functioning of the installation for the use by the designer and the second one is safety aspects.

While you are making the electrical installation there may be a chance for an electrical shock and also may be a chance for fire due to high temperature.

So the system designer shall incorporate the proper protective measures of the electrical installation.

One which we can consider as protection against direct contact and other one protection against thermal effects, these are the protective measures.

The primary aim of protection against direct contact is to prevent persons to come in direct contact with the live parts of the electrical systems.

This can be achieved by preventing current from passing through the body of any person, so to avoid the direct contact we can use insulation over the live conductors, so the chance of getting shocked will avoid with the presence of insulation. The second one that is protected against thermal effects, the electrical installation shall be designed like there may be no chance of fire. In case of electrical systems while the current flowing through the circuit there may be heating happens. That means temperature increases so automatically if there is any flammable material placed then there is a chance for firing and increasing thermal energy.
